Dr. John J Hacskaylo – Chief Executive Officer
John was previously Chief Technology Officer for Molecular Rebar Design and was Vice President, Research and Development for KiOR, a next-generation fuels company that has developed a proprietary technology platform to convert biomass into renewable gasoline and diesel fuel blend stocks. Prior to that, John spent over 23 years at The Dow Chemical Company where he held a variety of senior R&D leadership roles in the Plastics, Automotive, Building & Construction, Technology Licensing and Hydrocarbons areas. There, he led innovative teams that captured multiple awards including 2006 and 2007 R&D Magazine R&D100 Awards, 2006 and 2008 Automotive News PACE Awards, and numerous Society of Plastics Engineers and Society of Automotive Engineers innovation awards.
John earned a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Virginia at Charlottesville. He also attended the Advanced Management Program at the INSEAD Business School in Fontainebleau, France and the Technology Managers Development Program at the Industrial Research Institute & Northwestern University Kellogg Graduate School of Management in Evanston, Illinois.
Dru Kefalos – Chief Marketing Officer
Dru is a veteran leader and executive with accomplishments across multiple functions and business units over 28 years with ExxonMobil Chemical. Ten of those years with experience in Global Leadership Positions. Dru had a vital role in the divestment of the ExxonMobil Chemical Films Business and then standing the business up to operate independently under new ownership. He then led the turnaround of this business under the new owners before joining Black Diamond Structures shortly after the JV formation in March 2015.
Tim Knaus – Vice President, Global Sales
Tim is an accomplished Sales Executive and brings over 18 years of diverse sales and business development leadership experience to Black Diamond Structures. His broad experience includes developing Sales and building Sales teams for multiple technology start-ups along with Sales and Business Development leadership positions within the chemical industry for Global and regional companies. He and his teams have successfully brought new products to market in a variety industry segments.
Steven Swogger – Vice President, Product & Application Development
Steven previously held the position of Chief Financial Officer at Molecular Rebar Design, he also ran Molecular Rebar Design’s business segment focused on lead acid batteries that was transitioned into the Black Diamond Structures joint venture. Prior to Steven’s entrance into nanotechnology and energy storage in 2012, Steven held various leadership positions in operations and finance in the Managed Care sector including Scott & White and FirstCare Health Plans.
Steven received his MBA from Baylor University and a BBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin.
Paul Everill – Vice President, Research & Development
Paul comes to Black Diamond Structures directly from Molecular Rebar Design, the originators of the MOLECULAR REBAR® technology. There, he was central in formulating, manufacturing, and developing their first carbon nanotube-based additives for lead acid batteries. As R&D Director of Lead-Acid Battery Technology, he built the research team and facilities to support product launches and development cycles over a five-year period. Paul has presented on behalf of Black Diamond Structures at several global events.
Paul holds a PhD in Biochemistry from Tufts University in Boston, MA, a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Texas at Austin.
